Can we survive the Tomb World!

Postby Connman234 » Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:33 pm

Hey guys! I'm being bad. I should be painting, but I just bought the PC game Mechanicus. For those who don't know, Mechanicus is a game where you build/train/recruit new members and go in missions. If you have played XCOM in the past, same deal, but it is Ad-Mech Vs. Necrons.

Since you can also name your squaddies, I am beginning a "personalized" run where I name the squaddies as friends.

If anyone would like to participate, all you need to do is just reply to this thread. When opportunities arise, I will name the squaddies after your forum name.

From the couple hours I've played with it, it is very good!

Some noteable differences from XCOM that makes it very unique.

1) There isn't a "hit chance percentage" like XCOM. Everything hits, but unless you use a servo skull, you don't know how tough an enemy is.
2) The mission format is very different from XCOM. You go through a series of rooms with one of 3 options to choose. Some give you bonuses, but others raise the "Necron Awareness". You can bum-rush the shortest path to the goal, and miss out on loot. Or you can take the longer route, but makes the fight at the end tougher and awakens more of the tomb world outside of the mission. The "Awaken" mechanic is similar to the Panic of XCOM. Less Awaken, the better.
3) In fights, there is a ability cost system using "Cognitive Points (CP)". It lets you use weapons that have CP Cost. Don't have a CP, can't use it.

Looking like I'm gonna have to give it shot, especially since it just went on further discount til Friday.

Yea. Saw the discount the day after I bought it. Makes me sad I missed the discount, but oh well.
