State of the Grimdarkness - 2020

Postby Memento » Tue Feb 18, 2020 10:25 am

A New Year brings new things and so I've got a few important announcements to share with the general assembly (that's all of you).

First up, I'll be stepping down as President of Grimdark Gaming, effective immediately. Part of effective leadership is realizing when you're not actually leading and that our community would be best served by someone who's able to commit more time and energy to the position. So with that I'm happy to announce that Scott (MrScotty) will be taking over the helm. Honestly, this is largely just the official recognition of all the work that Scott's already been doing for the past year.

Our next big bit of news is that we're expanding the Officer Corps. As the club grows, so do its needs and we've realized that we need more resources to help things continue to run smoothly. So with that, I'd like to welcome Tom X (Darth Hoodie) to the Officer Corps. Tom's drive towards player engagement and his willingness to go above and beyond to improve the club have been fairly evident since he first joined the club way back when. So he was the obvious choice when it came to expanding our ranks. Tom will be focusing his initial efforts in helping to get some more regular events going at the club. So if you've got any ideas for an event - anything from narrative to competitive - send them his way.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to remain as part of the Officer Corp (albeit in a largely advisory role) and continue with my forum moderation and admin functions. As always, if you have any questions about any of these changes, or anything else, please feel free to reach out either in this thread or through PMs. I'm happy to chat.

2019 has been a bit of a wild ride. And while the rate of releases for 8th edition Warhammer 40k has been relentless, I'm looking forward to what 2020, and the new leadership of Grimdark Gaming, will bring!

Cheers!
Anthony (President Emeritus) & the Grimdark Gaming Officer Corps (Brian, Dave, Scott, Spencer, and Tom)

Just getting around to this now.

Thank you For all you’ve done to get this ship sailing, Anthony. Those of us who understand just how choppy the waters were to get us to this point know it could not have been done without you stepping up in a time of need. Now that you are Emeritus, enjoy showing lecture and collecting that pension :)

Emprah help us all now that Tom has authority. The Xerras Heresy awaits....

(I kid, of course. Congrats to Tom and I for one welcome our new overlords).
